The RCMP Certified Criminal Record Check

The RCMP's Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification Services (CCRTIS) maintains the national database of criminal records in Canada. Local authorities and accredited fingerprinting agencies across Canada, such as Canadian Fingerprint Agency, contact CCRTIS to check the fingerprint records of people who have been charged or convicted of a crime. The database is also used for civil (non-criminal) purposes, specifically to confirm a person's identity in criminal record checks.

  • Border Crossing
  • Canadian Citizenship
  • Canadian Police Forces
  • Criminal Record Check For Personal Use
  • Employment - for Federal, Provincial, Municipal governments
  • Employment - For Private industry
  • Immigration to Canada - Permanent Resident Status
  • License - Consultant, Doctor, Horse Racing, Nurse, Real Estate, Teacher, Taxi etc.
  • Name change
  • Record Suspension (Pardon), 
  • Visa - Foreign residency, Foreign travel, Foreign Work Permit
  • Waiver - Travel to USA only.

Documents Required:

  • 2 pieces of I.D. (One piece of identification must have a photo; Passport and Driver's License preferred)
  • Requesting letter from Employer, Immigration, Police, Pardon Agencies (if applicable)
  • Complete Application Form at our office

Photo I.D. accepted:
Canadian Driver's License, Ontario Photo Card, Nexus Card, Passport, Citizenship Card, Permanent Resident Card, Certificate of Indian status, Student Card, Canadian National Institute of Blind (CNIB) Card, Federal/Provincial/Municipal ID Card, Military Employment Card, Age of Majority Card, Firearms Acquisition Certificate (FAC), Foreign Driver License, Hunting License

Non-photo I.D. accepted:
Canadian Birth Certificate, Original Valid Immigration permit (Visa, Work, Refugee, Student)

ID NOT ACCEPTED:

  • Health Cards (issued by Canadian Province or territory)
  • Social Insurance Number (SIN)

 

If you CAN come to our location (most straightforward):

  • Book an appointment of your choice on line using our handy calendar and submit payment 
  • Or call to book an appointment
  • Bring two pieces of identification (best is passport and driver's license)
  • Bring letters from employment, immigration, police or pardon agencies to our office (if applicable)
  • Fill out form in our office
  • Have your photograph and fingerprints taken
  • Authorize result to be sent to a third party (if applicable)
  • Fingerprints will be submitted digitally to the RCMP for processing while you are in our office
  • Results are usually obtained within 10 business days if you have no previous records or around 2 months if you do have a record

If you are living ABROAD (Cardscan):

  • Make sure the local police or private fingerprinting agency can take your rolled and flat ink fingerprints
  • Fill out an online application (select a application under the "Apply Online" drop down menu) and go through the payment process
  • We will email a package to you within 48 hours with further instructions in order to obtain your fingerprints and submit to our office
  • contact the nearest police force or private fingerprinting agency which offers fingerprinting services at your location. The RCMP will accept fingerprints that contain the following:
    1. rolled and flat impressions of all ten fingers taken with black ink
    2. full name
    3. date of birth and sex of the applicant
    4. name and address of the police agency
    5. signature of the official taking the fingerprints
